The Wizard's Cave

In the coastal cliffs beneath Tintagel Castle lies an echoingly atmospheric cave. And if the stories of old are to be believed, the cave may once have been home to Merlin, the wizard of Arthurian legend.
Most prosaically, Merlin’s Cave is a 330-foot-long sea cave formed by marine erosion. It stretches all the way beneath the craggy head of land on which Tintagel Castle stands, allowing you to enter from one side and exit out the other. It is, without doubt, an impressive cave in its own right.
What makes the coastal cavern extra special, however, is its association with the legend of King Arthur and the wizard Merlin.
At Manques Magique we use the hidden magic to create your very own special place, your Merlin’s Cave. Miracles, potions, transformations and spectacular change will light up the night sky as our tireless mages work wonders on the world.

Kitchen Detail
It all starts in the Kitchen. Every student is outfitted with their own modern stainless steel kitchen with utensils to perform their magic. It is complete. And, it is your's to take home. A well appointed cave is necessary to perform a full variety of magic, and the room is your temple, complete with alter, candles, cauldron, mortar and pestle, and your assortment of magical ingredients.. You receive a set of glassware, bottles and jars, droppers, enchantment containers, pure glass stirring rods, beakers and stoppers and every apparatus necessary to perform perfect magic. Precious metals are a staple of any good magician and so no expense has been spared to bring you special materials from around the world. Cleaning supplies, and accessories are provided to keep your temple clean and purified for three days. Due to the space requirements of our students, class size is limited.
Establish Your Alter Ego
The Alter is established as the centerpiece of your temple. Great care has gone into providing select goods and materials from the four corners to formalize your ritualistic centerpiece. It is a place to honor deities, spirits, and/or ancestors; to make ritual offerings; and to keep sacred objects safe and visible. It is designed such that you can tuck it away in a special corner of your home, once you return to the normal world.
If You Can't Stand the Heat, Stay Out of the Kitchen
Aside from the broom and the wand, the cauldron is possibly the most iconic symbol of the practicing mage. The association starts from ancient Celtic myth, but indeed, the full range of druid cultures were represented by this transformative device.
The cauldron is a symbol of the creative forces of transformation. The round shape and receptive properties of cauldrons make it sacred. The cauldron is an association between the elements of water and earth. New students will chose their Cauldrons and Wands, storage boxes and materials as best suits their identity.
Lighting the Way
Your full assortment of colored magical candles is essential. It is what makes candles so attractive to people who are curious about magic. There’s just something about a candle flame that conjures a pleasant atmosphere. We feel peaceful, more at ease gazing into the flickering, dancing, living light.
All the iconic accouterment is provided so magic can be conducted according to the necessity of the moment. Light, flame and other effects are themselves part of the focal element of magic, so much attention is put on the necessary theatrical components that ensure our minds are focused on manifestation.

Coven Name Meaning. from Old French covine 'fraud', 'deceit', hence a derogatory nickname for a trickster. habitational name from a place in Staffordshire named Coven '(place) at the huts or shelters (Old English cofa, dative plural cofum)'.
Now a days we think of the term coven more simply as an association. Magic works rather well when a small group of like-minded individuals tackle a common problem, or learn to do it in a consistent way. Invite your friends to join you in the magic class, and stay together forever.

Be Who You Were Meant to be in This Lifetime
The field of magic harkens back to a time when such mechanisms for changes in forces and matter were "the Way." Over eons of time we have yielded greater importance to the mind and the evidence of the physical world. Regardless, our proclivities are indeed our strengths. Ergo, for many magic is an innate ability. If you have this innate ability, this inner or intrinsic strength then it is there as a power card in your hand for all time. Play your hand well.
Life has a paramount meaning in the realm of spirituality, it is meant to survive through learned motion. As you went through the challenges of your Past lives you developed your particular sets of proclivities, magic may have been one of them and at some particular point in time when such means were available. If you developed it to the point where it defined your survival, then it becomes an innate power-card in every future life you will ever have.. This is quite analogous to certain psychic gifts, too. Look for the strength in you, it is the proven source of all destined success.
Do not, I suggest, get too hung up on labels and descriptive words. These have always changed over time based on the subjective whims of those with some form of power over others. Religion itself has added considerable negative meaning to magic when at one time none existed - replicating the examples that some unknowable God showed us a way to proceed in a dynamic world was considered philosophically "logical." Evil, for example, WAS NOT an associated component of early magic, THAT TOO was introduced, and yet again is another example of how religions imposed a perspective where none existed previouisly.
Magic is a quintessential value that is in all things. It is akin to "a potential".

Dragons are kind of like having an elephant in the room. Their mere presence alone is kind of precarious. Anything can happen. We take great care in introducing you to this life changing force, a "being" who is not merely destined to be your best friend, he or she ALWAYS HAS BEEN. Those swirling hot plasma cosmic gasses that proceeded the formation of our own solar system occurred in various forms and at various times. The one that pertains to your particular dragon also pertains to specifically, AND ONLY, you. Your Dragon is an "Essence", an essence of Divine wisdom that preceded all form in this physical realm.. And so it goes, it is the oldest of souls, and the wisest of all things. Power is wisdom, and wisdom is knowledge. COME LEARN!
Kundalini
Although the mystics of the ancient world both hid and shrouded the boundless power that wraps around your spine to ensure your immortality, this serpent fire was regardless known for certain as the source of all your vitality and creative power.
Do you think of your power as the six coils on the serpent in the Garden of Eden, a symbol of the journey that awaits you? Do you lean towards the nordic teachings of the famous Yggdrasil tree? Or perhaps you see the wisdom in the ancient Asian dragon symbology in the sky? It's all the same. Hidden. Obscure. Secret. Yet still, a powerful dragon that YOU are connected with at the very core.
A Little Eye of Newt?
Is Eye of Newt a real thing?
Both the English major and the frustrated high school student are likely familiar with this passage during the Witches scene from Shakespeare's "Macbeth":
"Fillet of a fenny snake, In the cauldron boil and bake; Eye of newt and toe of frog, Wool of bat and tongue of dog, Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting, Lizard's leg and owlet's wing, For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble."
Eye of newt? What kind of crazy concoction is this? Of course, "Macbeth" is a fictional work, but there are certainly people around the world — back then and today — who practice witchcraft. Do they really use these types of things? If so, it sounds like some animal rights activists should get involved — all those newts, stumbling around without eyes.
Worry not, however! Eye of newt is a real thing, but you decide if you want to use it literally.
All of the ingredients in the witches brew can be simply described in ancient terms for herbs, flowers and plants. But of course, why would we share the real secrets? Some say witches gave these flora gross and disturbing names to deter other people from practicing witchcraft. Here's the translated plant list of what's really in Shakespeare's cauldron:
- Eye of newt - mustard seed
- Toe of frog - buttercup
- Wool of bat - holly leaves
- Tongue of dog - houndstongue
- Adders fork - adders tongue
- Blind-worm - okay, a blindworm is a real thing; a tiny snake thought to be venomous
Now you can make a witches brew yourself, if you're so inclined! However, we seriously don't recommend actually ingesting it.
When practicing black magic, mustard seeds (particularly the black seeds) cast a spell of strife, confusion, discord and disruption. Interestingly enough, though, other types of mustard seeds are thought to provide protection against witches. Legend goes that witches are predisposed to counting and picking up things, so if you scatter mustard seeds around your front door, bed or property, the witch will never have time to get to you as she will be busy counting mustard seeds
FIRE, THE FIRST ELEMENT
HISTORY ALWAYS SPEAKS TO THE MAGIC OF FIRE.
It has to be included in any healthy discussion on magic.
Generally, fire symbolized eternity, warmth, love, spiritual enlightenment, hell, punishment, evil, witchcraft, martyrdom, sacrifice, persecution, home, protection, fertility, divine energy, purification and state of spiritual nearness between man and spirit.
Fire may symbolize the flames of the sun, which itself has qualities of warmth, light, and creative power. Due to these qualities is thus equated with life force and masculine creative strength and generally, an incredible life force within a human being. It was a signal of vigor, strength and psychic energy.
Fire In World's Religions And Myths
Fire has been used in religious rites and symbolism for hundreds of years; with the main image of the smoke from the fire disperses into the heavens. Associated with the sun, fire is purifying and/or destructive, reveals spiritual power and therefore has played an important role in main rituals and religious ceremonies throughout the world.
In Hindu beliefs, Agni is a powerful Hindu god of fire, and one of five sacred elements of which all living creatures are comprised is fire. Fire is considered an eternal witness essential to sacred religious ceremonies. In Christianity, fire is a symbol of the Holy Ghost and is often used in countless descriptions of Hell.
In the Zoroastrian religion, the Creator made the whole world of fire, water, and earth, and all-nourishing ether. Fire is continuously used to represent Ahura Mazda - God of the Zoroastrians, including the fire at Yazda, which has been burning for over two millennia.
Fire was important for agriculture; it was common to use fire in various rituals, in which torches, bonfires, burning embers and even ashes were considered capable of stimulating the growth of the cornfields and the well-being of man and of animals.
Fire in Alchemy And Astrology
In alchemy, fire is associated with the chemical element of sulphur (sulfur) and its symbol is an upward-pointing triangle. In ancient Europe, learned chemists talked about fire as a 'transmutation factor' because they believed that all things exploded from the fire and returned to the fire. The alchemists have an important concept of fire as ‘an Element which operates in the center of all things’, as a unifying and stabilizing factor.
One of the most important alchemical symbols is an amazing mythical firebird, Phoenix, a symbol of Sun, immortality, rebirth through fire and eternal life.
Paracelsus, an alchemist, physician, astrologer, and occultist demonstrated the parallel between fire and life, pointing out that-both must feed upon other lives in order to keep alive.
In astrological "wheel of fortune", fire signs are energetic and full of force.
Fire as One Of The Four Elements
Fire, accompanied by water, earth, and air were recognized as the four primary elements by Aristotle and Plato and by a Greek philosopher, Heraclitus of Ephesus (c. 535 BC - 475 BC).
In his Dictionary of Symbols” J. E. Cirlot says that in Egyptian hieroglyphics, fire is also related to the solar-symbolism of the flame and linked with the concepts of life and health as it originates from the idea of body-heat. It is also allied with the concept of superiority and control (19), showing that the symbol had by this time developed into an expression of spiritual energy.
In Heraclitus' system, the cosmos refers to as "everliving fire". Heraclitus equates fire with God/Zeus as the divine ruling order saying: "thunderbolt steers all things" alluding to the directive power of fire, an important element being the origin of all things but at the same time, it is the most inconstant and changeable. Heraclitus observed that all things are exchange for fire, and fire for all things. Fire changes into water and then into earth; earth changes into water and then into fire.
Fire In The Bible
In the Bible, fire is part of the revelation of the Deity.
When God revealed himself to humanity, the event was accompanied by fire. When we burn the lamps and candles on the day of the dead and pray, our prayer is a symbol of admitting the dead to eternity of light, because fire symbolized light.
Fire is a symbol of purification, which is the custom of cremation in some cultures. The flame of a fire that changes constantly expresses life, therefore, it is a permanent element of tombstones whether in the form of a candle, a torch or a torch. As a symbol of purification, the fire manifested itself in the destruction of evil and plague.
In the Apocalypse of St. John, The Apostle, it is a punishing fire in which sinners will burn’ and
8:5. says: “And the angel took the censer and filled it with the fire of the altar and cast it on the earth: and there were thunders and voices and lightnings and a great earthquake.”
What Your Training Entails
Real Experience
Everybody is ON-STAGE, all the time. Your confidence level will soar, when you experience yourself performing like a professional, working with other professionals, and being evaluated by professionals. Magic, none-the-less, is an esoteric wisdom. It is not as much about the performance as it is about what magic embraces. You are magical, or you are not magical- based on how you embrace the forces of the world.
Magic was initially used to overcome all adversity, even natural disasters. There was ALWAYS an imbued way to succeed at life itself, regardless of the attenuated mental thinking and philosophies we've developed, or the sciences we are choosing to believe in as timeless fact, which they are not. Magic was something we incorporated within us over EONS of time, and so now we have only to get back in touch with our natural form of survival, and mastery over an antagonistic environment if survival of the fittest.
Manifesting
It means to create something using your inner power. Lets start with basic of manifestation.
Your mind and words are a very powerful thing. It is your basic tools to manifest, your thoughts and words give creation to something. This is why spells are usually spoken. You may not know this, but most adults go about life with the have/do/be state of mind. For example:
"If I just have more time or money then I could do the things I always wanted and then I could be happy. "
This is not an effective way of creating in this universe, It creates a never-ending chase after what is wanted. "having" does not produce "being". What seems to work a lot better in this universe is the be/do/have strategy. Example: "First be what you want, happy, loved, magical, etc.. then do things from this state of being and you will discover that these actions will bring what you wanted to have. "
Use this strategy and integrate it in your mind-set, it'll get easier over time.
Already a Wizard
All wizards learn this basic concept. The truth is, you already are what you seek, you just haven't realized it yet. Forget that idea that you are not a Wizard, forget that you can't do magic, because you can! What you seek is already within you. It is because in truth all people are part of the same whole. We are all made up of stardust, as are all things physical, plants, animals, people, rocks, everything. As you will realize by being a wizard, many things in existence exist as opposites. All plants, people, animals, rocks and everything physical are not separate, yet at the same time they are. This may be hard to understand but, you are the trees you are the rocks, you are the rising sun, you are magick. Treat others as you'd like to be treated, do not spread harm because you are only hurting yourself.
Whatever you do to another you are doing it to yourself. It only appears that you are separate from others. You are not separate in truth, so do to them as if you were them, because you are.
Your Staff or Wand
You will have to start looking and acting like a wizard to be one. If you are returning to this calls from Magic I, please bring your custom made wands. If you are new to this class we will provide a selection for you to choose from. The wand or staff is a basic tool of the trade, and does indeed provide the greatest "focus" you will have.
Avoid the Follies
These follies have brought many to their downfall. You must guard against them as guardians to the magical entities, all of your virtues will be tested by those wishing to possess the power of magical entities.
